BIO

Toril Bækmark: Copenhagen, Denmark; Illustrator Toril Bækmark lives in Copenhagen, Denmark. She graduated from The Danish School of Art and Design in 1996. As part of her education she spent six months at Warsaw Artakademi. She specialized in illustration and poster design. She worked for a number of years as a graphic designer and illustrator and has since 2008 been a fulltime illustrator. She usually works in black and white, focusing on expression and the quality of the line. Water colour is also a favourite, and she often combines it with a black line. She works mainly in editorial and advertising and has illustrated for fashion magazines, such as Elle DK, and Eurowoman, Bon Appetit (Los Angeles), CLES Magazine (FR), Mike Salisbury (US), Olay (US), the Copenhagen mall Fisketorvet, the Aarhus mall Bruuns Galleri, Danish department store Magasin du Nord. Her style suits fashion related assignments, such as magazines and campaigns. She has illustrated for Danish jeweller Hultquist-Copenhagen, Danish fashion designers Heartmade Clothing, by Groth and IC Company and Danish baby wear Norlie.
